Baguettes are feeling angry

May 11, 2006 - 4 Responses

From my first and unique reader, a question has raised. Well, ok, it was not a question, it just mentionned the events. But I don't care, this is my blog, and I can write what I want on it.
So, you heard about the riots that happened in Baguette-Land (yes, this nickname sucks) : cars on fire, young rebels, etc. That was massively covered by medias, in France as in the rest of the world (maybe in North Korea they didnt care, though). I just saw an extract from Fox News (best channel ever…) which showed France was entirely on fire. I was glad they told me, since I wasnt aware. Actually, I was comfy in my living room, probably pretending to do my homeworks or something, while my peaceful town was burning. Strange I didnt notice. Maybe there's a good explanation somewhere… Oh, but I know ! It was not burning !

Then, here we're done for Fox News. As for the other medias, I dont know what had been said. And, at the moment, it's already past, so…
To resume, it was just groups of young people who decided to take actions for being neglicted from the government (poverty, unemployment, racism…). As sensible people, they decided to set cars on fire. This was covered by medias, then other groups of young-people-neglicted-from-the-gov (PNFTG) wanted to do the same, you know, for fun, and also to prove that they could burn more cars than previous PNFTG did.

I'm not saying that those people arent living in misery and suffering from discrimination or whatever. They have good reasons to be angry. I just think fire is not really a good solution. Politics noticed, ok, but then ? Are they working on it ? Nope. Actuyally, they are quite busy with another case, the Clearstream one, dunno if you heard about. Kind of a french Watergate, as one said.

Anyway, it just lasted about two weeks, since medias found something else to cover (did you heard about that terrible thing that happened in Maine et Loire ?? Some guy found a sheep with straight hairs !)(ok, I'll go kill myself after posting). PNFTG are still rotting in their "ghettos", the wealthy still dont care, everything has turned back to normal ! Everything is ok, but thank you though for caring !

PS : I saw an american show where you gotta cook to be… erm… I dont know. Anyway, its like all those shows where you gotta do something otherwise people are texting for you to get the fuck away if you dont sing/work/cook/show your boobs as well as they expect you to do… Where was I ? Oh, yes, the show with cooking. And the guy was so impressed by one of the cook because he made his own mayonnaise. "He made the mayonnaise, actually, it's very impressive !"

I laughed. It is so easy to make a real good French mayonnaise. Ah, you, American people… I love you.

What about America ?

This is the big question. You know, from this side of the Atlantic Ocean, we're a bit too far to get to know you all, Americans. And I guess we may not see you with the best objectivity, regarding to our "alliance". You know, about the Iraq War and stuffs like that. When you guys decided to boycott french cheese or french wine, or cosmetics. I dont really remember. But I know I've been crying a lot, laid on my bed. Then I decided to be strong and get to know you. And also show that we, French, creepy people are not necessary that creep. Except maybe for my neighbor. And also for the guy in the train.

Oh, the train ! I gotta explain this, because in geography class, we study you ! Yes ! We study the superpower that the USA are. And it was said that you never use trains, but cars. And in France, we're more to use trains, between cities. Well, not exactly. We also use cars a lot.

Anyway, I use the train a lot, since I dont have my driving license. It's called the RER, it's a bit like the "métro". I'm sure you heard about the métro. Well, to go to school, I walk or I take the bus to go to the RER station, then i take the train, and 5 minutes after, I'm at school. I know, it is such a wonderful thing, and I'm sure you're now begging for me to tell you more about the way I walk or take the bus.

No, actually, it's boring.

So, yes, we're studying the american society in geography. All those melting-pot but salad-bowl stuffs, people living in the suburbs but not in the big towns. We, French, prefer to live in the big town. And french suburbs suck quite a lot. Well, it depends. Here's the point : is what we study true ?

And do you study France in America ? Do you really think the Champs Elysées are so beautiful ?

Meet the blog

Well, now that I'm done with the options and stuffs, I think the blog will stay like this for a moment.

Then, meet the blog, which is quite refreshing and smooth like a strawberries and macaronis smoothie.

I also created some categories. Quite cliché. But I like cliché, who doesnt ? (The one who answers "me" can now leave. And quicker. You know, I can see you, giggling at the back.)

So, soon, news of France, or something else, dunno yet.

Gotta work on some poetry.

This is a first post (yes it is)

Waow. Here's my first post. In english.
Guess you should know that I'm French. A real one. From Paris. And I eat camembert with baguette. Not all the time. Anyway, who cares ? The point is that I might not have a correct english/american (by the way, is this blog american or english ? You tell me)

But I can see you're wondering "why dont the french chick get a french blog ?" (Yes, in France we also have blogs).
Simple answer : because I cant. It's crazy but I cant have a french blog. I cant talk about me, and things and anything in french, to a french audience. But I wish I could, because sometimes, I'd just want, you know, write things that cross my head down. And surprise, I do it pretty well in english.

Waow I just discovered the button "save and continue editing" ! Such a great thing ! Dont have that with french blogs. Ok, ok, no one cares.

Maybe shall I begin with some personal stuffs about me. Like, I'm 17, and a girl, and I go to high school (last year before college). That will do it for the moment. You'll know more after. Maybe. Oh, and I think I might be a Democrat.

One of the aims is also to speak about differences of culture, like I'm gonna tell "woah, in France its terrible because people etc etc" and maybe you're gonna react by saying "hey, you're crazy, this is so cool !". Or not. I'm gonna publish this, and then play with my brand new blog.

See you later
