Baguettes don’t want to caugh anymore. Thanks.

There is something about France, maybe you noticed. We love demonstrations. As soon as we disagree with the governement, we go down the streets and demonstrate. Of course, it is mainly useless, since authorities allow us to demonstrate where we wont bother politicians, we can't demonstrate under their windows.

If you ever come to Paris, dont forget to demonstrate, you could make a nice walk from République Square to Bastille Square.

Here we've got one point : governement doesnt care for us. As they're meant to do, after all, it is not as though we were a democracy ! And they're doing very well. They strictly do the opposite of what we're expecting.

Then, it is the same when we're expecting not to die from passive smoking. They don't care. France is the last european country in which you can still smoke in public areas. Though a law was proposed. And though 80% of French people agree with it. And though 3 000 to 5 000 people die from passive smoking in a year. I know, those are not good reasons, but…

Seriously, what's wrong with you French Parliament (Assemblée Nationale*) ?!

Then, this is the part where I give my opinion, and when people are gonna say "yeah, you're right, I want you to be my chief" or "shut the fuck up ! You're wrong ! I want you to roast in the flames of Hell !". And I warn you, I am still gonna give my opinion.

I want this fucking law to be voted by the parliament. Why ? Very simple :

1. I'm sick when around cigarettes smoke, I want to vomit, it gives me headaches. And I'm not the only one.

2. If people have a right to smoke while eating, I also have a right not to smoke while eating. And since many restaurants and bars dont respect the separation between two spaces (smoking area, non-smoking area), the solution is to forbid smoking in public places, you, motherfuckers.

3. I dont care if people want to smoke, it is their right to want to be ill with cancers or whatever. And I want to remember them I will pay for their cancers. Yes, we will all pay for them, since we have the Sécurité Sociale : we dont let people die from terrible illness that cost zillons of Euros.

4. Having a right to smoke is freedom. We know. Freedom is the big word nowadays "You can't prevent me from eating preservatives without the yoghourt ! It is my right to eat preservatives without the yoghourt ! I'm free ! It's democracy !".
Alright. You choose, you're free. I've chosen not to smoke. It is my right, I'm free. And I'm thinking many babies, toddlers, children chose not to smoke too. It is their right, they're free people's free children. And they also have the right to be at restaurants. It is their right. I guess you got it, with the right-and-freedom thing.

When you've chosen, you become responsible. You've chosen to smoke. Ok, we wont prevent you from smoking. But you have responsibilities. You will have to smoke outside. That's the deal, everything is about compromises in life.

This is it. Goodbye, people.

PS : To answer Happychick, and maybe some more readers, yes, we do speak french in France. But I prefer english, and I have nothing to say in french.

without dec (:D), not to offense you, you start to resemble nyls… well the virtual nyls since the real one never speaks a word
it is of course your right to think that your right not to inhale cigarette smoke is not respected, but the way you are saying “you smokers are wrong, irresponsible, i want you to roast in the flames of hell and to pee on your ashes” is barely bearable for a pacific smoker like me who has a dream, that one day non smokers will be able to join hands with smokers like brothers and sisters
since i found your article agressive, you didnt convince me. sad, because you could have.

ps ta maitrise du français ne te rend que plus fine. si tu y as vraiment rennoncé, c’est dommage… en tous cas pour moi :)

  2. I’m responding with agressivity to agressive smokers who told me before those arguments. Moreover, I’m sure you noticed that I’m kinda ironical. I’m just fed up with being polluted everyday. I didnt ask anything and I have to undergo the other’s choices. This is not fair. And it is hard in this world to obtain justice with holding hands :)

  3. Ah, you talk about your government, and say that they do not care about you. But don’t you see, this is not the case in France alone! We in Australia are a democracy, and even then, they care more about their fancy houses than they do about us lot living in near poverty (ok- overexaggeration, but you still get my point). The government has an unwritten rule here- ‘you can’t keep everyone happy all of the time, so keep no-one happy all of the time.’ :) x

  4. Happychick/ Hmmm… I’d rather say “you can’t keep everyone happy all of the time, so let’s keep only us all of the time.” I doubt that they want to give their cars, houses with swimming-pool, etc back ;)

  5. LMFAO. You rock Frenchie…
